Let’s Talk ABOUT Dance

The French philosopher, Gilles Deleuze, said an idea is never conceived independent of a form. One has an idea in a specific discipline.
The idea is already informed by a form.

Thus, one can not talk dance or write dance, one dances dance.

However, one can use the linguistic disciplines of writing and talking to theorise about dance.

During the lockdown that was forced upon many dance artists across the globe due to the Coronavirus pandemic, whilst we are deprived of the essential and vital condition for dance which is the live presence of the physical body in space, contemporary dance as an art form is changing.
The contemporaneity of the art means that it is informed by the modification of the present.

Whilst we can not dance together, we can care for dance by talking about it, its context, its social and political value and how it might resurrect past the pandemic time.

Israel Aloni is initiating a circle for contemporary dance artists who are interested in talking about dance via online meetings whilst we are all experiencing some degree of isolation.

Aloni will facilitate the online meeting but all the participants will be equal parts of the circle and we will try to have an organic flow of introducing themes and participating in the conversations.

If you are an independent contemporary dance artist and are interested in participating in such discussion circle about dance, get in touch with us.
